Parental love in light of the Final Warning
For conscientious parents, their children are the object of their most earnest care. They work and care for their correct development. They want their children to be healthy and joyful. But the greatest joy of the father and mother is to see that their children are obedient to their counsels and that they act in accordance with them.
If you have children who fulfill and respect your will, then you are one of the few parents who can be glad that they have accomplished, together with their children, one of the greatest goals of education.
God and men
That which parents strive to accomplish with their children, God wants to accomplish with mankind. He is our Creator. Created for joy, the first couple did not know sin and evil. Solomon said: “Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.” Eccl. 7:29. Men chose those ways that were pleasing to them.
They departed from God through disobedience and the initial state in which man was created underwent a total change. Man has always been more inclined to listen to the voice of evil than to take heed to the voice that invites him to do righteousness.
Sin separates men further and still further from God, and the consequences of their misuse of freedom and the indulgence of sin, are plainly seen among men. Some of these are: sicknesses, death, murders, unrighteousness, distress, and all the expressions of evil that are swiftly increasing.
The lamentable state of mankind
The state of mankind today is more than lamentable. Unbelief, disobedience, and mockery of the Scriptures and God have reached unprecedented heights. They are soon to reach the limit when the cup of iniquity will overflow, and God will visit the earth with judgments. One Bible writer declares:
“The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.” Isaiah 24:5-6.
Mankind in general has chosen a road the end of which is inevitable catastrophe. The wages of sin is death. Rom. 6:23. God does not want this for us. He griefs, like a tender Father, for this state, and he wants all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Tim. 2:4. The Infinite One who loves humanity has found means to draw them to himself and bring them out of this hopeless state.
The gospel of salvation
Christ is the means that was provided by God for the salvation of mankind.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12.
Jesus Christ is the great Physician and he is also the remedy for this world. He – as he is revealed in the Scriptures – must be preached to all nations, kindreds, and tongues. He is the essence of the gospel. The acceptance of him through faith is salvation from eternal death, strength to live a new life, and victory over every sin and all evil. He is the way, the peace, and the joy of men. Regardless of the mockery of the unbelievers these days, Jesus remains the only helper and Savior for this world.
By giving his dearly beloved Son as a sacrifice, the Father did all that could be done for the fallen humanity. But they do not believe in him and instead of accepting him, they reject him that he would not be their Savior. By doing this, however, men in general reject their only chance and hope for salvation.
Thus they determine their destiny for perdition. This fact is a fearful truth. The greatest tragedy in this world is that it is swiftly traveling on the broad way that leads to perdition and they do not consider this. But before this perdition comes, God sends a warning.
The final warning to mankind
“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” Amos 3:7.
So has it been earlier, so it is today. Noah preached and warned the antediluvian world for a hundred and twenty years. Jonah warned Nineveh and as a result of his preaching the inhabitants of this city accepted the warning and their lives were preserved.
John the Baptist prepared the Israelite nation for the first coming of Jesus. After the ascension of Christ, his disciples preached to men the gospel of salvation through Christ. So did all the messengers of God in all ages and in all time, who testified of their faith in the Redeemer.
Especially for our time, God has messengers who proclaim with final warning of God to mankind which reads:
“Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Rev. 14:7. You can read the whole message in Rev. 14:6-12.
This last message is addressed to all mankind and it must be preached to every nation, kindred, and tongue (Rev. 14:6). Everyone will hear it or read it in a book, pamphlet, or magazine so that they can take their final decision regarding God and his last warning.
This message urges us to accept God’s invitation and fulfill God’s will. None of the inhabitants of this world will be able to urge an excuse before God on the day of judgment. Dear reader, what decision would you make? Please, accept the counsel of God:
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:6-7.
“O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.” Jer. 22:29.
