“There Shall Be a Time of Trouble.” What Is the Reason for the Problems in Our World?

“There Shall Be a Time of Trouble.”

The present time – a time of peril

Can the UN keep humanity from entering into a worldwide war? No. Just as much as the conglomeration of churches can keep people from sinning. There is only one solution to all the entangled questions of the present time and this grand solution is found in the Bible.

When faithful men and women who earnestly search the Word of God try to explain current events in the light of Bible prophecy and proclaim to the world that the situation will become worse and not better, how often they are disclaimed as narrow, old-fashioned and differing from the common sentiments of the world?

Yet all those who love the Word of God are convinced that the day of the Second Coming of Christ is at the door. They have evidence that the state of things on earth will get from bad to worse, and the words of prophecy will find their fulfillment: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come,” and “evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” 2 Tim. 3:1, 13. The daily newspapers confirm the exact fulfillment of these scriptures.

The only sure guide

The sure word of prophecy is our only sure guide. Bible prophecy foretold the rise and development of the kingdoms of the world: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. In all these kingdoms, and also in all the smaller nations, Bible prophecy is confirmed by history.

Every prophecy has its own time when it is to be experienced. Every nation that appeared on the scene was allowed to occupy its place on the earth, to have an opportunity to show whether they would serve the purposes of the Holy One in heaven. All of them proved to be unworthy, and this is why their glory and power were taken away.

The One who is standing between the cherubim overrules the events that are transpiring on this earth. The history of nations speaks to us today. In His great plan, God has appointed to every nation and every human being their particular place. Nations and individuals are now tested by the measuring rod that is in the hand of Him who makes no mistake. Through their own choice, they decide their destiny. God overrules all events to fulfill His glorious purpose.

Bible prophecy – a beacon of light

The prophecies that the Great I AM gives in His Word, show us where we are and what we are to expect in the near future. Everything that prophecy has foretold till now, is confirmed in the pages of history, and we can be sure that all that has not been fulfilled yet, will be fulfilled. The signs of the times today show that we are standing on the threshold of great and solemn events.

The whole world is in distress. Before our very eyes, we see the prophecy of the Savior about the events that are to precede His Second Coming being fulfilled:

“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.” Matt. 24:6-7.

We live in a time of high significance for all people. Governors and statesmen, men in high positions, thoughtful men and women of all classes are giving careful attention to the events that are transpiring everywhere. They are following the newly formed relations among the different countries.

They have noticed the tensions that exist among the nations and they are conscious of the fact that something massive and decisive is soon to transpire – that the world is standing before a great crisis.

The only source of truth

The Bible – and the Bible only – gives a true explanation of these things. It shows us the last solemn events in the history of the world – events which thunder as they come, making man’s hearts fail them for fear.

The message of God to the inhabitants of the world is sounding today: “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 24:44. The state of things that exists in society, and especially in the large cities, declares with the voice of thunder that the hour of God’s Judgment has come and that the end of all things is at hand.

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Rev. 14:6, 7.

We are standing before the crisis of ages. We need not be amazed at the great and decisive events because mercy cannot tarry much longer, to shield the unrepentant ones.

Everyone should study the Holy Scriptures for themselves so that through the grace of God and obedience to the Law of God they can evade that fate that was prophesied by Malachi: “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.” Mal. 4:1.
